Powered by UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, GSVC is led by Laura D. Tyson at the Institute for Business and Social Impact (IBSI) and its Center for Social Sector Leadership. The mission of IBSI is to inspire and empower members of the Berkeley Haas community to develop innovative solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges. We strive to achieve this mission through a rich array of courses, activities, and research offered by our diverse centers and programs that span the for-profit sector, the nonprofit sector, and the public sector. By providing a vibrant hub for shared goals and practical innovation, we aim to give students the tools and vision they need to design path-bending careers with social impact.
The Center for Social Sector Leadership is defining a new generation of business leaders, a generation that understands and values the crucial role that nonprofit and public institutions play in the world’s increasingly collaborative economy. Whether students seek to consult with social sector organizations, found a social enterprise, become effective philanthropists, lead through board governance, or pursue a career in the sector, the Center provides the leadership education to help them succeed.
